SACRAMENTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) and the California Governor’s
Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) are proud to present the 12th
annual California
Day of Preparedness in historic Old Sacramento on Saturday, Aug. 26,
from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. The theme of the event is “Surviving the Wild
West.”
The free, family-friendly event kicks off National Preparedness Month,
held annually in September.
Dozens of state and local agencies, first responders and other community
organizations will offer a variety of preparedness information and
activities. There will be safety, emergency response and
search-and-rescue demonstrations – on both land and water. And like any
good summer outdoor event in California, you’ll find music and food, too.
“Our public and private partners have always played a critical role in
emergency response,” said Cal OES Director Mark Ghilarducci. “We’re
especially thankful for the robust public-private partnerships we’ve
developed to improve our disaster response and recovery capabilities
throughout California.”
“At PG&E, we plan, prepare and practice to safely respond to emergencies
and major disasters throughout the year,” said Gregg Lemler, PG&E vice
president of Electric Transmission Operations. “The safety of the
communities we serve is our top priority, and we urge you also to be
safe and be prepared. We are pleased to once again sponsor Cal OES’
California Day of Preparedness and to partner with many state and local
agencies and first responders, because being prepared and ready to
respond whenever and wherever is critical.”
Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about emergency preparedness
through a variety of disaster readiness activities:
-
Experience a simulated 8.0 magnitude earthquake

Command Vehicle, Picarro gas detection and 811 Locate and Mark vehicles
