Award Recognizes Alex Vallejo’s Professional Accomplishments and
Commitment to the Hispanic Community
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Alejandro “Alex” Vallejo, director and lead counsel at Pacific Gas &
Electric Company (PG&E), was one of 10 attorneys to receive the Hispanic
National Bar Association’s (HNBA) award for “Top Lawyers Under 40.” The
award recognizes the accomplishments and contributions of HNBA members
who have distinguished themselves in the legal profession and
demonstrated integrity, leadership, and commitment to the Hispanic
community.
“Alex is an exceptional lawyer and individual. He has a remarkable
commitment to diversity and inclusion reflected not only in his
contributions to PG&E, but also by his service to the community. We are
very proud to see Alex receive this recognition,” said Senior Vice
President and General Counsel of PG&E Corporation Hyun Park.
Vallejo joined PG&E in 2010 and assumed his current role as lead counsel
to Gas Operations in 2012. In addition, Vallejo has been involved in a
number of initiatives at the company to promote workplace diversity. He
has mentored PG&E’s law school interns, who are selected in part on the
basis of commitment to diversity and overcoming adversity, and in 2012
led an event at PG&E hosting more than 100 minority lawyers from all
over the West Coast.
Vallejo also serves on the Board of Trustees for the Mexican Museum of
San Francisco, and was recently elected to serve as Vice-Chairman of the
Board. The Museum has a permanent collection of over 14,000 pieces of
art and is preparing to break ground on a new facility in the Yerba
Buena Gardens Art District in San Francisco, which will establish it as
one of the preeminent Mexican and Latin American art museums and
cultural centers in the world.
“We are honored to have an individual with Alejandro's experience and
vision to serve in an important leadership role in our board. I look to
Alejandro to direct our governance, nomination and development projects
as our museum begins its latest milestone of building a permanent home
in the Yerba Buena Center Arts venues,” said Andrew Kluger, the Museum’s
Chairman of the Board.
The HNBA presented the award to Vallejo and other recipients on March 19
at the 2015 HNBA Corporate Counsel Conference in San Antonio, Texas. The HNBA
is an incorporated, not-for-profit, national membership association that
represents the interests of Hispanic attorneys, judges, law professors,
legal assistants, law students, and legal professionals in the United
States and its territories.
“We are exceedingly proud to honor ten of our best Latino lawyers and
community leaders,” said Cynthia D. Mares, HNBA National President.
“With this prestigious award we recognize the recipients’ commitment to
excellence. These ten winners are indeed the best of the best, and we
are delighted to recognize not only their professional accomplishments
but the significant contributions that they have made to our
communities.”
