PG&E Awards $200,000 In Grants To Support Local Economic Vitality And Job Creation

10/22/2014

$20,000 Grants Provided to 10 Nonprofits and Government Organizations Throughout Northern and Central California

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif., Oct. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Continuing its long-standing commitment to support the economic vitality of the communities it serves and increase opportunities for local job creation, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) today announced that it would provide $20,000 grants to support the work of 10 organizations in Northern and Central California.

PG&E President Chris Johns kicked off the 2014 grants program at America's Job Center of California in San Luis Obispo. In its second year, PG&E's Economic Vitality Grant Program is investing $200,000 in programs designed to enhance local economic vitality—ranging from small-business incubation and growth to workforce development.

"PG&E wants to help our communities have growing, thriving local economies. This year's grant program continues our long, proud history of supporting the organizations that are working hard to create local jobs and provide career training," said Johns.

The funding determinations for this grant program were competitive, with nearly 130 applications received. All applications were evaluated by a third party that based its recommendations on a combination of factors, including the strength of the plans presented, demonstrable links to job creation and community need.

Eligible grantees for this PG&E Corporation shareholder-funded program included local government organizations, educational institutions and 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations within the company's 70,000-square-mile service area.
