(San Francisco) – Pacific Gas and Electric Company, the utility unit of PG&E Corporation (NYSE: PCG), today announced that President Christopher P. Johns has been elected to the utility’s Board of Directors, effective immediately.

“Chris' leadership as the head of Pacific Gas and Electric Company, and earlier as the holding company’s Chief Financial Officer, has been invaluable to our company’s success in recent years,” said Peter A. Darbee, Chairman, CEO and President of PG&E Corporation. “He will be a vital contributor to the utility’s board as we continue to advance our vision to be the leading utility in the nation.”

The utility’s top executive officer since August 1, 2009, Johns is responsible for all aspects of Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s business, including electric and gas operations, customer care, information technology, shared services and regulatory relations. Johns joined Pacific Gas and Electric Company in 1996 as Vice President and Controller. He was named Senior Vice President and Controller of PG&E Corporation in September 2001 and elected Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in January 2005.
