(San Francisco) – PG&E Corporation (NYSE:
PCG) today announced the election of Maryellen C. Herringer
to its Board of Directors and the Board of Directors
of utility unit Pacific Gas and Electric Company, effective
yesterday. Herringer is a director on the boards of
a number of corporate and community organizations.
“Maryellen’s experience as a board member
and her expertise on corporate governance matters will
be a great asset to our boards,” said Robert
D. Glynn, Jr., Chairman of the Boards.
“We’re looking forward to Maryellen’s
contributions to PG&E especially given her extensive
experience as a senior business executive and her active
commitment to the communities we serve,” said
Peter A. Darbee, PG&E Corporation President and
CEO.
Herringer currently serves as a member of the Boards
of Directors of Golden West Financial Corporation,
its subsidiary World Savings and Loan Association,
and ABM Industries Inc. She also is a Trustee of Mills
College, the Benilde Religious Trust and the University
of California at Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film
Archive.
From 1991 through 1997, Herringer served as Executive
Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of APL
Limited, a NYSE-traded intermodal shipping and rail
transportation company. She was a member of the company’s
Executive Committee and had responsibility for its
legal, risk management, corporate communications and
human resources functions, as well as responsibility
at various times for its community affairs, including
APL Foundation, and the internal audit and tax departments.
Previously, she was a partner in the law firm of Morrison & Foerster
where she specialized in corporate transactions and
governance. She also served as Senior Vice President
and General Counsel of Transamerica Corporation, where
she had responsibility for the legal, public affairs,
human resources, administration and corporate secretary’s
functions, and the Transamerica Foundation.
Herringer received her law degree from the University
of California at Berkeley (Boalt Hall) and holds an
A.B. in Economics from Vassar College. She is a member
of the New York and California bars.
