(San Francisco, CA)- PG&E
Corporation (NYSE: PCG) today announced that its board of directors
has elected Christopher P. Johns, 41, Senior Vice President and
Controller. In his new role, Mr. Johns will assume responsibility
for Investor Relations and continue with his current controller
responsibilities.

Chris' leadership and contributions to PG&E Corporation at a critical
time in our history as we work through our Chapter 11 Plan of Reorganization,"
said Robert D. Glynn, Jr., PG&E Corporation Chairman, CEO and President.

Since joining PG&E Corporation
in 1996, Mr. Johns has been responsible for accounting, tax and
financial planning and analysis. Prior to PG&E Corporation, he was
a partner at KPMG Peat Marwick LLP in the firm's National Public
Utilities practice. Active in the business community and a frequent
speaker at industry conferences, he is a member and former chairman
of the American Gas Association's Accounting Advisory Council.
Mr. Johns serves his local
community as president of the Moraga Baseball Association.
An alumnus of University
of Notre Dame, Mr. Johns earned a B.A. in Accounting in 1982. He
is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
and is a Certified Public Accountant in the states of California
and Florida.
