PG&E Employees Pledge More than $7 Million in Contributions
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) and its employees and retirees
will give more than $32 million to local nonprofits and schools in the
coming year. Of that amount, employees and retirees contributed a
record-breaking $7.3 million through the utility’s annual Campaign for
the Community giving initiative.
“I’m proud to be part of a company whose employees and retirees don’t
just say they care about their communities; they prove it every day by
giving back,” said Tony Earley, chairman, CEO and president of PG&E
Corporation. “This year’s Campaign for the Community will go a long way
toward supporting schools and nonprofit organizations and helping our
local communities thrive.”
Through PG&E’s Campaign for the Community, employees can designate
donation recipients and contribute amounts of their choosing through
payroll deductions or one-time donations. Since 2000, PG&E employees and
retirees have raised more than $62 million through Campaign for the
Community, benefitting local schools and nonprofit organizations in
communities where PG&E employees live and work, primarily in Northern
and Central California. These contributions are in addition to the
millions that PG&E donates annually throughout its service area.
This year, pledges were made by more than 9,200 employees and retirees.
That is an 18 percent increase over last year’s total of approximately
7,800 participants.
Contributions will be distributed throughout 2015 to thousands of
schools and nonprofits—including environmental organizations, community
centers, food banks, animal shelters, veterans groups and many others—to
help keep important programs and services thriving in local communities.
